There have been a lot of significant updates to SXA and Creative Exchange Live since we last posted about it. In newer releases of Sitecore Experience Accelerator, configuring Creative Exchange Live gets even easier. For instance, in the initial version 1.4, the below patch file would need to be included on the server:

    <powershell>

      <services>

        <mediaUpload enabled="false" requireSecureConnection="false">

          <patch:attribute name="enabled">true</patch:attribute>

        </mediaUpload>

        <restfulv2 enabled="false" requireSecureConnection="false">

          <patch:attribute name="enabled">true</patch:attribute>

        </restfulv2>

      </services>

    </powershell>

Starting with the version 1.5 release, this file is already included for you!

  • In the file system, navigate to App_Config > Include > Feature.
  • Locate the z.SPE.Sync.Enabler.Gulp.config.disabled file and remove disabled from the file name.

In the version 1.8 release, the location of this file has been moved:

  • In the file system, navigate to App_Config > Include > z.FeatureOverrides.
  • Locate the z.SPE.Sync.Enabler.Gulp.config.disabled file and remove disabled from the file name.

Other improvements to SXA include numerous bug fixes and enhancements that enable your content authors to have more power than ever over their page layouts and content options, such as:

  • Version 1.6 added Snippets – a reusable group of renderings that can consist of several separately designed elements to help users build and reuse complex page layouts more easily.
  • Version 1.8 makes it easier to add custom scripts via the new Generic Meta Rendering called an HTML Snippet for optimal customization.
  • Version 1.8 also added some helpful Accessibility tools such as the new Skip Link rendering.

And that’s just the beginning. If you have questions about SXA, Creative Exchange Live, or how you can optimize your Sitecore Editing experience, contact us today.
