As we wrapped up 2012, not only were we able to reflect on the past 365 days of hard work, but also the opportunity to kickoff 2013, welcome our new team members, and proudly enter our 15th year of serving up web solutions. Yes, we’re turning 15 in 2013! And how do we kickoff such a year as this?
By extending our work day until 11 p.m. to attend what someone outside the realms of Aware may consider the worst oxymoron of their career: the company party. Normally this entails getting dressed to the 9’s and minding your P’s and Q’s for fear of potential humiliation, however Aware treats the yearly kickoff party as less of an exercise in masochism and more of an art form.
And, yes, after nearly 15 years we have mastered the art form of the company party. This has raised Aware and its co-workers above the likes of Clark Griswold and corporate cocktails and has brought together several things missing from most company parties: a destination with food and an ambience worth driving to, glossy name tags the size of packaging labels so you’re certain to know your fair share of names from across the room, a cocktail hour prior to dinner so table conversations are sure to meet everyone’s’ expectations, and a group of invigorating co-workers who make the lengthy work day extension completely enjoyable.
This year Aware wined and dined the team and their guest at Bar Lurcat where we had a record number in attendance breaking in to the 60’s. We were able to honor Joel Konecny who had an outstanding 2012 with a list of accomplishments including speaking at Sitecore Symposium, recognize Christina Watts on her 8th Aware Anniversary, congratulate Dave Beck on his recent wedding, and celebrate our 5 new employee additions since December. With almost 15 years behind us and 2013 ahead of us, we look forward to the growth, continued celebrations, and any new oxymorons we can find to master.
