American Society of Anesthesiologists Now Delivers a More Connected Digital Experience

Aware recently launched a new site which includes more than 25,000 pages, 350,000 links and a newly designed, secure members-only portal for the American Society of Anesthesiologists (ASA).

ASA, comprised of more than 50,000 physicians, is deeply committed to ongoing education and research related to the high standards within the medical practice of anesthesiology. Since 1905, ASA’s advocacy work and significant industry achievements have made them an important voice within the American medicine community.

Aware helped ASA reinvent their website to drive new memberships and serve existing members with a variety of different usability and technical tactics. Using Sitecore best practices, Aware constructed new responsive wireframes, user experience (UX) design and information architecture (IA). With the help of a highly diverse group of project stakeholders with varying viewpoints, including 25 Aware and ASA designers, developers, writers, testers, technicians, ASA member volunteers and three ASA committees, the revamped site launched allowing the delivery of a more individualized and connected digital experience.

Additional highlights of the new site include:

  • Integration with the existing member management system to ensure members can successfully login/signup
  • Coveo search implementation to improve the user’s ability to quickly locate information
  • Faceted search on heavily trafficked pages including standards and guidelines pages vital to ASA membership
  • Migration of several microsites into the new platform

“The [Aware] team put in a Herculean effort including weekends, holidays and after hours to meet the ASA goal.... We felt confident that they were not just doing “enough,” but often caught and fixed development issues that ASA had no clue about. This was exactly what we needed them to do....” said Paul Pustelnik, Senior Web and Digital Services Manager at ASA.
